SUMMARY:ISANA Vic/Tas Branch - ESOS Legislative Framework: The power of storytelling
DESCRIPTION:CLICK HERE to register NOW!\nCost: ISANA member free of charge | $90 for non-members \nThe Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000 (ESOS Act)—and associated legislation—form the ESOS Framework. This is the legal framework for the provision of education services to overseas students\, and sets out the registration requirements and the ongoing standards for education providers that offer courses to overseas students. The framework provides a consistent national approach to the registration of education providers so that the quality of the training\, and the care of students\, remains high. It protects the rights of international students studying in Australia. \nThe National Code of Practice for Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students 2018 (National Code) sets out eleven Standards for the conduct of registered providers. The Code governs the protection of overseas students and is a legislative instrument of the ESOS Act. As such\, it is legally enforceable—breaches of the National Code by providers can result in enforcement action under the ESOS Act. \nGiven the significant importance of The Framework\, this PD will help participants to understand the eleven Standards as outlined in The National Code through creative and interactive learning. There will be interesting group activities\, role plays\, and a competition (mystery prizes to be won) to spice-up the whole learning environment! We trust that you will have a good time learning about ESOS and it is going to be one of the best way to help you in understanding the complexity of this important legislative instrument. \nBy the end of the session\, you will learn (in a creative way) more about: \n\nESOS Legislative Framework\nThe National Code of Practice for Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students 2018\nHow the framework affects the work you do when working in the international education sector\nHow you could apply those standards in your work when supporting international students.\n\nInvited speaker:\nDanielle Hartridge has been involved in international education for more than 25 years. She began her career at Monash University in 1991 and was the Associate Director International Student Experience at Victoria University from December 2005 until March 2016. Danielle’s specialist knowledge includes international student support\, ESOS compliance and organisational management. Danielle is the recipient of the IEAA Distinguished Contribution to International Education Award\, the Victorian Multicultural Award for Service Delivery to a Multicultural Victoria and ISANA Life Membership for her distinguished contribution to the association \nPROGRAM SCHEDULE\n11:30am Registration \n12:00noon Lunch and networking \n1:00pm ESOS creative learning workshop (Part one) \n1:50pm Short break \n2:00pm ESOS creative learning workshop (Part two) \n3:00pm Afternoon break \n3:15pm ESOS creative learning workshop (Part three) \n4:30pm Q&A\, feedback\, and suggestions \n5:00pm End
