SUMMARY:ISANA SANiTy Online PD: Understanding the healthcare system in China to better assist Chinese international students in Australia and offshore
DESCRIPTION:July 22 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm ADELAIDE\nRegistration:  CLICK HERE\nJoin ISANA SANiTy members in conversation with health care professionals (student and staff) to gain valuable insights into the Chinese health care system. We’ll hear about the process that a citizen would have to undertake to see a doctor\, specialist\, obtain medications\, and generally receive support\, as well as the differences and similarities between the hospital systems in China and Australia. This session will also include an introduction to StudyAdelaide’s newly developed Offshore Critical Incident Manual. ISANA members will leave this session with a better understanding of Chinese students’ issues when dealing with Australia’s system\, and how best to support and refer Chinese students\, studying offshore in China. \nFormat:    \nSmall group brainstorming and discussion of current issues in referring and supporting Chinese onshore and offshore students with health issues. These scenarios will be addressed by our panellist experts\, including tips and examples by each panellist. The final 20 minutes will be devoted to questions from the attendees. \nThe workshop will be conducted via Zoom to enable presenters and attendees from across Australia and New Zealand to attend the session. \nPanel:\nLi Li\n Li Li works at the University of Adelaide as Student as well as in Central Adelaide Palliative Care Service for people with terminal illnesses.  Prior to these roles\, she worked with automotive workers and their families to help them making life transitions\, when they were facing the national closure of the automotive manufacturing industry during 2016 – 2018.  She also has 7 years of clinical experience in working with people with dementia and mental illnesses (presented as squalor\, hoarding\, and other complicated grief).  Before coming to Australia\, she was a university lecturer in the areas of linguistics and comparative cultural studies for 9 years. \nLyujing (Lindsay) Huang\nLyujing (Lindsay) Huang is a Masters of Nursing student at the University of Adelaide. She’s passionate about holistic patient care in a collaborative environment. She also volunteers at the University as an International Peer Mentor\, and has provided Chinese cultural insight to the staff and students in International Student Support. \n  \n  \n\nMary Ann Seow \nMary Ann Seow is the Immediate Past National President of the ISANA International Education Association. She served as National President for two terms from 2014- 2017 and has been actively involved in international education in Australia for over 15 years. Currently an ISANA State committee member\, Mary Ann provides consulting and professional training to the international education sector. Her passion lies in working in the international education sector and collaborating with agencies\, student groups and peers to assist and support international students and to advance research and standards in international education. \n
