Students come from a diversity of cultural backgrounds that impact on their values, communication and access to information. While many institutions are aware that there are cultural implications for face-to-face interactions, often, the online communication strategies tend to be one size fits all. This workshop will explore some baseline cultural impacts on interactions with students, and also explore ways to improve online information engagement strategies. The session will include the following topics:
- Introduction to the impact of culture and cultural values in our lives
- What are some key cultural values that may set cultures apart and what are similarities?
- Exploration of different approaches to communication, derived from our cultures
- Exploration of the different online engagement strategies of students from different regions
- Discussion of strategies for improved engagement with international students.
