Understanding the ESOS framework – assessing compassionate or compelling circumstances

Are all your provider staff aware of how to assess compassionate or compelling circumstances as required under the National Code?

The National Code requires education providers to assess compassionate or compelling circumstances in the following situations:

  1. Standard 7 – a possible reason for a release
  2. Standard 8 – an allowable extension of course duration
  3. Standard 9 – deferment or suspension of enrolment

This workshop provides training on the ESOS framework to staff who are assessing student-initiated requests for release, requests to extend their allowable course duration or requests to defer or suspend their enrolment. This workshop explores the issues arising when assessing compassionate or compelling circumstances and what is considered acceptable documentary evidence.
