With a focus for student support, compliance and admissions teams, this session will provide insight into recent Government announcements and recommendations and the anticipated impact on International Education.
2023 has been the year of commonwealth government inquiries – no industry has been left untouched. The international education sector has featured in over 5 national inquiries and reports, ranging from parliamentary inquiries into the impact of covid on the sector, to the role international students play in meeting skilled workforce shortages outlined in the Employment white paper.
Government inquiries into the migration and visa systems have been critically important to the sector. Reports into visa exploitation through the Nixon review and the migration strategy interim report highlight the value that the commonwealth government places on international education, and the impact the integrity of the sector has on our migration system more broadly. We will invite insights into the expected impacts from workshop participants to feed into ISANA’s responses and proposals at national forums and consultations.
