The National Code of Practice for Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students 2018 requires that Education Providers have an intervention strategy framework. What does this mean when we already have a range of documented interventions in place such as progression monitoring, and various support services?

In this workshop we will share our journey towards a systematised Intervention Strategy Framework, that improves upon, streamlines and extends all the standard interventions.  The Intervention Strategy Framework captured all our existing interventions and pulled them together into an over-arching framework, better connected our various interventions, and provided centralised support, monitoring, and documentation of students at academic risk.

We will analyse the inter-relationship, limitations, and points of disconnection with standard intervention strategies such as progression monitoring, teacher referrals, self-referrals from students, and how the intervention strategy framework bridges these gaps.

The Intervention Strategy Framework involves the students in deciding their interventions, ensuring all interventions are agreed upon, committed to and documented in each individual student’s intervention strategy plan, avoids unnecessary replication of support and advice, and ensures staff work in unison with each other and the student toward shared goals.

The challenges with implementing the Intervention Strategy Framework will also be explored, as well as what we have tried to overcome these.

The SIBT Intervention Strategy Framework strives for best practice in a pathway context, taking a unified, transparent, strategic approach to intervention and individualised support.
