Under 18 students have always been core to the school’s sector who have well established welfare models in place. Higher education providers have seen an increase in interest from underage students pre and post pandemic. All education providers who enrol under 18 students have an obligation to comply with the requirements of Standard 5 of the National Code 2018.

When a provider takes on this responsibility, what are the welfare and accommodation arrangements that need to be in place before the Confirmation of Appropriate Accommodation and Welfare (CAAW) letter can be issued? Inhouse, outsourcing to third parties, or a combination of both. What are the resource requirements to ensure adequate monitoring arrangements are in place to minimise risk?

This session will examine the regulatory framework to gain a better understanding of what is required to comply with Standard 5 and what constitutes good practice.
