The 19th ISANA Victoria/Tasmania State Conference of International Student Advisors and professionals in Melbourne on Friday, 7th September 2018 is an ideal learning platform for those wanting to achieve excellence in the turbulent world of international students. In changing times, and with continual restructures how do we maintain quality? It is through the gathering of like minded professionals and international students that we are able to share knowledge and network in order to maintain the standards we are truly happy with. This year’s conference will adopt speakers that will embrace their role as ‘drivers of change’. If we want change to happen it is vital that we are honest about our strengths and weaknesses and be proactive in addressing concerns as they arise. We must remain vigilant and focused on the needs and expectations of our students and we can only do this by sharing knowledge on what our peers are doing well. This will ensure that we can meet changing government requirements to improve quality standards in the environments that we work in each day. The conference has an immense opportunity to grow new partnerships, new technology and new modes of engagement to benefit students. Sessions will be interactive, innovative, stimulating and include time for discussion.
Highlight topics covered at the Conference:
- Self-Care (for all student advisors/support staff/professionals)
- Housing Advocacy
- Gambling Harm
- Cultural Diversity
- Sexual harassment and “hazing” practices
- Effective use of new innovative technology and update on Myki
Conference format will include:
- Concurrent sessions from various renown practitioners in their fields
- Discussion panels

- Theatre performance
We look forward to your participation in this conference.
