Education institutions enrolling international students have responsibilities for the welfare and support for their students, as well as for a number of third parties. Professional staff, community groups and related organisations who work with international students therefore need to be familiar to some degree with ESOS and the National Code 2018.

Secret City Tour – Discover Melbourne! | Depart from Bayview Eden (conference venue)

Join us on a secret discovery tour of Melbourne Tuesday afternoon ending with a cocktail reception at a mystery location!  Tour will depart the Bayview Eden 4.30pm and conclude in Docklands at 7pm so delegates can proceed to their choice for dinner or make their own way back to their accommodation.  The conference will cover most costs but we ask participants for a small payment of $10 to cover incidentals.  Book during registration or email mail@conferencedesign.com.au to add the tour to your existing registration.

A warm welcome to Melbourne and the 2019 ISANA Annual Conference. This event provides the opportunity for delegates who may not have been able to join the ‘Secret discovery tour of Melbourne’  with the first social opportunity to catch up with your interstate colleagues and sponsors and exhibitors.  We will be joined a special guest from Smiling Mind to discuss the benefits of mindfulness for ourselves and our students.

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet and mingle with international students and listen to their stories about their journey in Australia.  Medibank Place is known for its unique office design, we will be offering tours of the building for anyone who is interested.  Drinks and Nibbles provided.

Tracy Harris joined RMIT University in December 2017 as the Executive Director, Global Development and Performance.  In this role Tracy is responsible for driving the development of the University’s international partnerships including the management of risk, and nurturing collaborative relations with partner institutions and internal stakeholders.

Student representatives and alumni will reflect on their overall student experience and journey thus far. They will consider their experiences and reflect on the programs and information that education providers and agencies have provided to them. If the students were in charge of the student experience, what would they advocate and how would this be justified? These are discussion groups without formal presentations.  The chair will introduce the topic and encourage discussion and questions from participants.  Delegates may select which forum they wish to attend on Wednesday and Thursday during the registration process.  You may change your mind onsite.  We encourge the submission of discussion topics and questions prior to the conference; please email these to the secretariat at mail@conferencedesign.com.au.

Chris is Executive Officer for ISANA NZ. Chris leads the association’s professional development programme and liaises with education providers, peak body partners and government agencies. In conjunction with a national education provider, ISANA NZ is working on the development of New Zealand’s first online micro-credentials in International Education. As a teaching fellow, Chris co-teaches an online postgraduate course in International Education for Victoria University of Wellington’s MEd programme.

To celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the ISANA annual conference it is with great pleasure that the Organising Committee of the 2019 ISANA conference invite you to attend the Conference dinner on Thursday 5th December at 7pm. ISANA 30th Anniversary Retrospective – Looking Forward, Looking Back

ISANA, the Federal Government & international students have been working together for the last 30 years to shape a positive international student experience. This retrospective takes us back to the days of the National Liaison Committee (NLC) through to the establishment of the Council of International Students Australia (CISA), interweaving expert commentary from ISANA life members and past Student Presidents on what’s changed; what’s stayed the same; and our lessons learned.

The retrospective finishes with a glimpse of the future directions of CISA, ISANA and Government.
